Voting Rights for Ex-felons

Reinstate voting privileges for ex-convicts who have proven to have changed their lives for the better.

Nov. 6, 2016

Dear Future President,

"America is the land of second chance and when the gates of the prison open, the path ahead should lead to a better life."(George W Bush-brainyquote.com). A perfect example of this would be to allow ex-convicts to vote once they served their time. America is acknowledged as "the land of opportunity." I think we should give someone a second chance. This could be determined on a case to case basis.

When people are released from prison and enter society they need to have opportunities and the tools to be successful in their rehabilitation process. Being able to vote would help that person to be an active member in society. They should be able to vote for politicians because the politicians affect all their lives and the society on which they now have re-entered.

In conclusion, future president, please consider reinstating voting privileges for ex-convicts who have proven to have changed their lives for the better. Let them contribute and be a part of the community.

Sincerely,

Leah Weil
