Ways To Fix Racial Equality

In America there has been way to much Racial Inequality and this is A major topic that should be fixed.

Dear Mr/ Mrs. President,

As Chief Joseph, a Chief of the Nez Perce, once said, “The earth is the mother of all people, and all people should have equal rights upon it.” Unfortunately, not all people are given the same rights or privileges and this is something that you can help fix. I have noticed that not all black people get the same opportunity as white people. I noticed this when my friend who is a black American made it on the football team but our coach always played the white kids even if they were bad. As our next President, I think you should enforce racial equality.

To begin, I believe that you should stop the senseless shootings of innocent people. For example, when Philando Castile was shot. Mr. Castile “was licensed to carry a weapon and had one in the car” and the officer said “ don’t move” and the officer shot Philando in the arm 4-5 times according to go.galegroup.com. The shootings like this one need to stop because innocent people are either getting injured or killed. I think it is just not right for our law enforcement to abuse the power that they have and shoot innocent people and if an officer is shot white people would care a lot but if another person that is a different race most people wouldn't care as much  just like "The shootings of Castile and Sterling, White Americans … concerns drop by over 40 percent”according to go.galegroup.com and I think that you should stop these shootings and show respect for the people who were shot by our law enforcement.

“Black Lives Matter … a three-year year old movement” that stands for, “ highlighting institutional racism, demand police, and judicial reform” however “ 64 percent of White Americans do not support the Black Lives Matter movement ... majority of White Americans think the movement encourages violence” according to go.galegroup.com. This is something that I think that you can fix by accepting this movement and telling the people what this movement means, this would help out the black American societies in our country.

In addition to fixing racial equality you should stop racial discrimination because, if people are bias then people will not trust each other and a civil war might start. Also racial discrimination is very important to fix because “ 91 percent acknowledge some, or a lot of discrimination against Blacks” and this is not fair because, if a black person is very smart he/ she wouldn’t have a chance at a job if their boss is discriminating against them. Also, stopping racial equality would help our community because we need all of our people to get along if we want a safe and nice environment.

Once again, Mr/ Mrs. President, you should try to enforce racial equality in our country, and I have a lot of black friends and it affects me very much when they are denied something just because they are a different race. Just because I’m still in middle school doesn’t mean that I don’t see racial inequality in our country.

Sincerely,

Edward B.
