Why College Costs So Much?

I feel that college now should not cost so much to get an education.

Dear future President,

A lot of people want to go to college one day to pursue their dream job, but what’s making it hard to make it to that dream job is college costs.

Administrators tell  people that over the past 35 years college tuition at public universities has nearly quadrupled to $9,139  in 2014. Now these numbers are crazy because kids that are trying to get into college are paying way too much , it’s making it too hard for families to support them in college.

It is 400% more expensive to go to college today than it was 30 years ago in the United states. When my dad was in college, he was only paying $2,000  a semester at Mississippi Valley State. Now if this doesn't surprise you, I don't know what will. Teens should not be paying this much just to get an education.

This affects a lot of teens all over the world that struggle Financially. Tuition and fees at private nonprofit colleges climbed 3.7 percent on average to $31,231 this academic year, according to a report today by the College Board. For in-state residents at four-year public schools, costs rose 2.9 percent to $9,139. Inflation, measured by the personal consumption expenditures index, rose 1.4 percent in the year through September.

So a way we can help these teens that are going through this. We can make an  in school scholarship program so that teens can use that to help them pay for some of the college tuition's, and so that parents are not coming out of so much money. So future president if you could help us with this problem you could really change lives.

Sincerely,                                                                                                                                                                     Nicholas Mack
