Issues: Gay Rights, Marriage, Adoption

Gay Rights are becoming more and more apart of our society. Gay people can be found anywhere and have become more common. Although, most Americans are not as accustomed to things that are different and you probably wouldn't be surprised that gay persons are not given the same rights as straight people. Even though we are all of the same species, gays are some how different. It is time for change. There is much unfairness towards gays, but there are also some issues with the government about how the medical care and marriage (etc.) are set up for heterosexual couple marriages and couples, and many Americans feel differently about this subject, some agreeing with basic gay rights but not with
gay marriage.

Gay rights are a very controversial thing, but I feel that people should be able to be with who they want to be. In the beginning it was said that America was a free country. A land where everyone could be who they wanted to be. Where it didn't matter what your class was in England, where you worked yourself up to the top. America land of the free? I think that people should be able to be who they want to be. It is also a personal matter. It should not be an issue for the government. Gay couples should have the same rights as heterosexual couples. The government shouldn't decide who you love because that is up to your heart.

There are many advantages to being married, you get tax breaks and share almost anything, like bank accounts, taxes (because you live together). The government does not let the gay couples to be married and still have the same benefits as the heterosexual marriages. Their are many doubts on Gay couples adopting children because they are worried if a gay couple adopt a little girl then there may not be a female influence in their life, and same way around with lesbian couples. Whereas heterosexual couples have both a man and a woman having equal influences. Also there is the issue of medical care, if a couple are married the couple's husband or wife would make decisions for them, if they are in a hospital. If you are not married, your guardian would make decisions for you and then if they can't come then the next person in your family would make decisions for you. But when you have a gay partner, they can't make decisions for you.

That's why I think that gay couples should be a private personal thing that the government should not be a part of. If they want to go out and get married they should go to a minister and get married, they should get the same benefits as the heterosexual couple gets. They should have the same chance as anyone else to adopt and not discriminated against. They are human beings like everyone else, so let's let them be who they want to be.
