A War on the Unborn!

Issues: War, Pro Life, Abortion

I want to commend you on running for presidency! That is a huge accomplishment in itself. I understand that when taking office, you will have a world of issues to deal with. There is one particular issue that I would like you to consider changing and this issue is abortion. To some Americans abortion is just a "get out of pregnancy free" card, but to other's it's murder. I am one of those Americans who considers it murder. Abortion isn't just an easy way out, it's a war on the unborn. This war takes away the lives of 1.37 million babies a year. Even worse, every day in America over 3,700 babies die painful deaths by suction abortion, dismemberment, being torn limb from limb, prostaglandin hormones, and now by being brutally killed seconds before delivery. This may be hard to hear, but the truth hurts. As Ronald Reagan said, "I've noticed that everybody that is for abortion has already been born." Think about it.

My main standpoint on abortion is that if someone is responsible enough to be sexually active, then they should be responsible enough to care for a child. Too many people use abortion as a birth control and it's unfair. Why should a baby have to suffer because of poor decisions made by their "so-called" mother? According to CDC Natality & Teenage Pregnancy Reports, approximately 1 million teens become pregnant each year, which results in 520,000 births; 405,000 abortions; and 80,000 miscarriages. Most of these teens are in some kind of schooling, so they ask themselves "What do I do now?" A majority of those answers seem to be abortion. I've realized that nearly all teen abortions are for the convenience of the mother, not for physical or medical reasons. Convenience is just an excuse and there is no excuse for the killing of an unborn human.

All of the pregnant teens and sexually active teens who will disagree with stopping abortion need to know there are other options. You and I both know that we can't stop teens from being sexually active, so when teens do think they are ready they need to do whatever they can to keep from becoming pregnant and ultimately having an abortion. They need to be informed about contraceptives and learn to be responsible through doctors, family, and if it comes down to it, schools. When teens are making that decision to have an abortion because they think it's the only way, they need to seek out more options. Quite frankly, they need to know about more options. Adoption is an option! To some women having a baby is only a dream and with more teens giving up babies to adoption those dreams can come true. It seems obvious that adoption agencies need to do more to promote the value of adoption and that's something that should be fixed. Also, support is huge if a teen is to decide to have a baby. Teenage girls need to search for support groups, they won't just show up at their door step. They can even find support groups within their school, but it is their responsibility to do these things. Pregnant teens should know that other options are there if abortion isn't an option anymore.

Now, you may be wondering about horrible crimes like rape and incest. Everyone has their opinion, but I have facts. I've heard people ask how someone could carry a "rape baby" for 9 months. Statistics show only 1% of all abortions occur because of rape or incest, 6% occurs because of potential health problems regarding either the mother or child, and 93% of all abortions performed in the U.S. are for social reasons. Still, life is life. What is the purpose of ending a life? We cannot fight one injustice (rape) with another (murder.) Any baby deserves a chance to live just like me and you got our chance to live. Just because a teen carries a baby doesn't mean they have to keep it. Once again, there are other options!

As a U.S. citizen Mr. President, I'm asking you to do something about abortion. Too many lives are being taken because they are "inconvenient" and it's not fair. People are just standing by as these children are being killed daily and I believe that you can do something to change this. Things can be done to eliminate or reduce abortion in America. Laws and sanctions can be enforced, as well as punishments and penalties for abortions that occur. Let me remind you that abortion was originally created for women who were raped or were at the risk of dying or having their child die, but it has turned into a way of life and in fact, we have mercilessly killed our most vulnerable citizens. You have the lives of these unborn children that are dying in your hands. Are you going to do something about it?
