Issues: Iraq, Economics, Energy
Dear Mr. President,
First off I would like to congratulate you on becoming one of the most powerful figures in our world. I hope that with your newly acclaimed position you will make choices that will positively impact the people of both the United States and our nations of foreign involvement. Some issues that I feel really need to be addressed and changed are the war and where we are going with it, our energy crisis and ways to solve it and finally our economic policies that are affecting many Americans during our struggling times. America has many problems that need to be fixed. With the help of smart choices and strong policies, I feel that you could change America and help many people live better lives.
Over the the years i have been learning more and more about our country and the way it is operated. I feel that one major issue that our country has right now is the war in Iraq. There are many different opinions of why we are really in Iraq. Even though we are told that we are there to ensure peace and eliminate weapons of mass destruction, it seems as though the amount of violence and destruction has remained the same in the time that American troops have been there. I personally believe that if we were to bring our troops back home we could invest our money, time and resources in more positive things. Everyday money, lives, and resources are being lost overseas. If we withdraw troops from Iraq then we can use these resources for good like finding alternative energy sources. If money that is spent normally on weapons was instead spent on alternative energy research, then we could solve the oil problem that is affecting millions of people. If the next president withdraws troops from overseas, Americans can focus more energy into domestic problems like securing our southern borders from illegal immigrants. Illegal immigrants are a big problem in America because they are taking jobs from American people and reaping the benefits of government programs that they have not paid into like legal citizens have. If we bring troops home from Iraq we could use the money, people and resources to protect the borders better and help illegal immigrants become legal. I strongly feel that we should finish business in Iraq and bring our troops home, if we do this it will have a positive influence the people of the United States.
Another issue that many Americans are struggling with is our country's energy issues. The rising prices of gasoline for cars is paying a toll on the American wallet. I feel that you should invest more money and time into alternative energy forms for transportation. A lot of development has already been done, especially in many cities there are hybrid buses that use electric power instead of gas. The development of hybrid vehicles has also increased over the past few years, but clearly we are not doing enough. If we invest, research, and develop things like natural gas vehicles, electric powered cars and energy efficient forms of public transportation then we can spend less money on fuels and create less pollution. The average price per a gallon of gas is $3.50. If we can cut this in half then it would clearly make a huge difference for Americans. If people keep polluting the atmosphere then we are going to have major global climate issues in the years to come. I would also like to focus more resources on things like solar, wind and clean energy forms for cities. If you can do this, then America will be a cleaner and healthier place to live. Millions of dollars are wasted everyday on energy costs. If we can come up with simpler, cheaper, and cleaner forms of energy, then the people of America would save millions of dollars. In addition to saving money we would also create less pollution in our environment. If the people of our country keep polluting at these high levels then our families of future generations are going to suffer greatly. Together with the help of you we can solve the energy crisis in America.
One final issue that I think needs to be addressed is the economic policies our country has with taxes and the social security system. Many Americans are struggling each year to pay their taxes because of their low income jobs and the high costs of living. I feel that you should cut taxes for the middle and lower classes that are struggling in our difficult economic times. This would dramatically help the people who are in need and struggling to pay their debts. If they have this extra money from tax cuts then they can put it back into our economy boost America's economic growth. Another economic issue that I feel is a problem is the social security system. Millions of Americans have paid into the social security system since it was first created in 1935. However now that many of these people are requesting aid from the system the money is running out. This is making many young people frightened because they are paying into the system and there may not be enough money for them when they are in need. I feel that if some of policies of the social security system were changed then people would have more trust and faith that their money with be there when they need it in the future.
Sincerely,
John
