The Energy of the Future
Issues: Energy, Alternative, Technology
My chief concern with our future is finding new ways to harness the energy that drives our world. We can no longer sit around and hope that we will find a way once our fossil fuel supplies are depleted. We must stop procrastinating and start acting now. Scientists have evidence showing that if too much carbon emission is released into the atmosphere, the Earth might not be able to recover because its global temperature will be too high for plants to grow. That's when it will be too late.
In today's world we find many hybrid vehicles, vehicles that run on electricity and gasoline or hydrogen fuel cells and gasoline. However, you gasoline is there all the time. Why is that? Because we don't have electric charging stations or hydrogen refueling stations everywhere. That limits who can use a vehicle without the ability to use gasoline. We need companies to have an incentive to develop and deploy these stations so we can remove that limit. If no more oil was available and we had no more gasoline the entire world would come to a halt because we'd have no transportation. That's why we have to refine these new ways of powering our vehicles and use it to it's full potential sooner than later.
Some say nuclear energy is the future, but it's only a temporary solution. It creates tremendous amount of energy with only a small portion of fuel, but with it comes radioactive waste. That waste is already piling up in our nuclear plants as it is and soon we'll have nowhere to put it. I believe that solar is the ultimate source of energy simply because it comes straight from where all the energy on Earth comes from, the Sun. But that is easier said than done which is why we need to create organizations to study how to utilize the Sun to create electricity for our homes and power of vehicles.
I would vote for a president who will fund new technologies for alternative energy and find ways for widespread implementation of those technologies. I stress the point on having these new ways accessible to everyone so the benefits can arise sooner. We have to make these technologies cheaper, more reliable, and efficient. As the president, take action to find these ways which will finally solve this global problem.
