Dear Mr. President,

            I know that you are very busy and probably have more pressing issues than this, but I believe that it is important. The issue at hand is abortion.

            Abortion should be illegal. Abortion is the removal of an embryo or fetus from the uterus during the first six months in order to “terminate” a pregnancy. Do you think that’s right? An unborn child is still human because life begins at conception. Doesn’t everyone deserve a chance at life?

            Thought it still isn’t at the top of your list of issues, like the economy or war, it is still equally important. In the United States, there is about 1.37 million abortions per year and 3,700 abortions per day.  Do you know how many unborn babies lose their chance to live and grow?

            The majority of abortions are had by 52% of women younger than 25 years old. Women under 25 usually have abortions due to social reasons, such as the child is unwanted or inconvenient. The child should not suffer for the parent’s mistake. The child didn’t ask to be brought into this world, but its life shouldn’t be taken out due to selfish reasons.

            Abortions are also unsafe. When a women is about to get an abortion, how often do they think of the complications? Abortions can cause bladder injury, bowel injury, hemorrhage, hepatitis, etc. Abortions can also affect future pregnancies by making women experience miscarriages. Did you know that the breast cancer rate has risen 50% since 1973, when abortion was legalized? Is all of that really worth it?

            In the case Roe vs. Wade, abortion became legal. On January 22, 1973 the Supreme Court abolished all laws that protected the lives of developing unborn children in every state. Some states passed laws that forbade the public money to be used for abortions. Some women used economic reasons for why they had to have an abortion. But, economic issues shouldn’t be an excuse because the government provides welfare and the money used to get an abortion could instead be saved for baby products. Also, if a parent feels that they are unable to care for a child, there are many adoption agencies.

            I strongly believe that abortion should be illegal , it shouldn’t be excused for rape or incest. Those are very heinous crimes but the child did nothing wrong. Most people hide their rape so it would be very hard to prove anyway. If the child remains a reminder to the mother of that night, the baby could be given up for adoption. The baby should not have to suffer for its father’s crime. Only 1% of women actually have an abortion due to rape or incest.

            Mr. President, I know that you are a very busy man, but please take into account what I said. Abortion should be illegal because it is a cruel crime against the unborn. Think about it: a fetus turns into a baby and a baby turns into our future. So basically by allowing abortions to continue, America is killing its future. Homicide is he murdering of another individual, is that not the same as abortion? We punish people for homicide, but why not for abortion? Abortion is murder too.
