Entice Teachers

Issues: Education, Teachers

.

Education is extremely important. Without a strong education kids will not be prepared for later  life. One of the main contributors to a good education is to have highly qualified teachers. In order to obtain these qualified teachers we need to offer them more incentives.

The first thing we should do to attract good teachers is to offer them a salary that is competitive with other professions. For example, nurses get paid more than teachers and they're in a profession that is as about as demanding as teachers. Nurses are paid overtime while teachers work overtime but don't get any extra pay; therefore, their base salary should be higher. Paying them an attractive salary would help students progress in their learning because their teachers will be more qualified

In addition to getting paid a decent salary, teachers should have better facilities and materials to perform their job well. To make surrounding facilities better might be to make the classroom bigger so students have enough learning space. Also teachers should have good materials that enhance learning; for example, computers would help them get a hands on experience and understand their subjects better.   Also a projector screen or a smart board would make it easier for the teacher to present their lessons. Providing the teachers with these kinds of material will help them prepare students for later life.

Yet another incentive would be to have smaller, more manageable class sizes. This would help both students and teachers in many ways. This would help students progress because they could get more individual help with their work from the teacher. Also the students would not be as distracted by other students.  Making classes smaller would benefit the teachers because it would lower their stress level by having less tests to grade, having less noises in the class, and having fewer people trying to get their attention.  Also the teacher would be able to work individually with each student when needed. This would be an enormous benefit to teachers and students.

Good teachers do so much and if we want to continue to attract them, we need to provide them with incentives that will make their jobs competitive with other professionals.
