Issues to consider
Issues: Foreign Relations, Abortion
Our founding fathers founded this nation with a secular government on the concept of separation of church and state .This was done so that our society would not discriminate against others of a different reglion I believe this concept is not practiced as it should be although the nation does not force to the people to believe in the Holy Bible, we force their belief system on the entire nation by passing laws that affect our lives. There are many issues that need to be addressed, but I will address a few of my concerns of how our laws pressure people to live by the Judeo-Christian ways of life.
My first issue is abortion. How would reversing Rode vs. Wade going to help this country? That would force women to seek abortions on the black market or have babies that they do not want or, make it difficult for themselves to get out of poverty. Currently, we allow women to decide to have abortion which gives the women freedom and liberty over their lives. However, there are many people calling this unmoral but unmoral under who standards? What would you do to protect the rights of women who choose to have an abortion? Would you go against the concept of the separation of church and state and abolish legal abortions, to be the enforcer of the Judeo-Christian belief system on this nation? If you push towards abolishing abortions than that it is immoral tot he Judeo-Christian belief system? Here are rational reasons to keep abortion legal: it allows women to have control over there lives, population is more manageable and crime rate would remain constant or decrease. There are possible disastrous affects if abortions were illegal now and appear years after they became illegal.
Second, there is a tremendous concern about foreign relations. How can we say that we have a secular government, when we have “In God We Trust” on our money and include “…under god…” in our pledge of allegiance? In whose god do we trust? Am I not an American because I don’t believe in god but in the ideology that this nation was founded on? How can we be effective foreign policy makers if we discriminate in our own country? If we don’t accept nation’s point of views, are different?
Thirdly, what is your stand on homosexual marriage? Do you discriminate against them just because their there love of their life is the same gender? This struggle has lasted longer than needed .If there is no other reason than they can’t natural reproduce and it is morally wrong to the Judeo-Christian belief system than it should be legal due to the countries secular government it should be legal. What has been accomplished in not allowing homosexuals to marry? Do we continue to risk our country’s ideology to protect the Judeo-Christian belief system?
Those are the issues that I believe forces the Judeo-Christian belief system on the general population. It is necessary for there to be a stronger line of separation of church of state People of America should be comfortable living their lives to their morals rather than the Judeo-Christian belief system. If these issues are not addressed than are we a secular government?
