Funding College Education

Issues: Education, Funding, College

What happens when your bank account has run low but not low enough to apply for financial aid? What happens when you can't get the job you want because you can't afford to get the education to work up to it? Do you wait say, 5 years working a minimum wage job waiting to save up for the day you will finally get to complete your education? What happens if you wait all those years to find out you have to put off some more time because something else came up? By then do you decide to go on with your education or to just give up and work at a minimum wage job all your life or just hope to one day finally get the job you've been waiting for all your life? Many people give up on going to college simply because it costs too much money. They could have all the ambition in the world and still be stopped because of not having enough money. I think you should put more money towards college funding because college sometimes keeps students in debt, people need to go to college to get a better job, and with the economy being unstable college is getting harder and harder to afford.
Many college students have to take out loans, but after college they are racked with all these bills for paying off their loan. Many students get trapped in debt. Some are able to come out of it, but many are left not knowing what to do or how to help themselves. Some students even decide to continue school and get another degree. In order to do that they would more than likely have to take out another loan. Before they realize it, they have more to pay back than they can afford. It could take years and years to pay off their loan, if it is ever possible to be done. Of course everything is possible, but will they dig their selves into such a hole they won't be able to dig themselves back out? Or if they can will they have to hit rock bottom before things are all patched up and paid off?  Many students do go through such a process just to get a better education. Shouldn't we have a right to continue learning if we wish to?
Another reason to support  college funding is because of job opportunities. It is easier to get a higher paying job if you have gone through college courses. Since it's getting harder and harder to afford college, many people will never get an opportunity to get a higher level job. This could also effect the amount of doctors or scientists our future will have. Being a doctor includes getting a number of degrees from college. Without those degrees, it is nearly impossible to become a doctor. Think about all the educated people we could miss out on. What if those people could have held the future of finding a cure for cancer or saving peoples lives? Should all these life changing possibilities not fall into place just because a college education wasn't affordable? Do we really want to take that chance?
A third reason why we should put more money toward college funding is because of the economy. Since our economy isn't as stable as it once was we don't have as many job opportunities for people. This could add up to a higher level of poverty. Since the economy is a little more unstable it is harder to pay for college, more so than usual. By supporting more college funding the U.S. could have more educated people. These education people could possibly even help contribute to helping stabilize the economy once again.
Our economy is getting worse from the unstable businesses that have been taken over by uneducated people. Higher college cost and little to no funding leave young adults and students struggling to get their diplomas. These low funds cause years of debt, low wage jobs, and higher amounts of uneducated people in the work force. Strengthen our economy's future by making sure our students get through college.
