The Home of the Brave
Issues: Taxes, Iraq War, Same Sex Marriage
Dear Mr. Future President,
Several key topics are facing our country as we near the beginning of a new era in the White House. Where to get started is the question. The next few years will set the stage for many decades to follow in our country. So, Mr. Future President, you must lead our country in the right direction. How? I have a few suggestions.
The Iraq War is a war that America needs to win. We need to stay in Iraq until we get the job done. There is no need to pull out now. Our brave soldiers have been fighting for many years, and pulling them out with work still left to do would be demoralizing. Ask any soldier in Iraq if he or she wants to quit the war, and that person would say NO. This is why I am proud to be an American. I am proud to be a citizen of this great nation. Our brave men and women soldiers fight for us, they lay it all on the line for us, and they die for us. Now would pulling troops out of Iraq truly be a good deed for our country? I know it might not have been the smartest decision to enter this war in the first place, but that was not your decision. The Bush administration made that call, and whether it was right or wrong, it is what it is. Don't look back now. The future is ahead of us. Show the world what America is all about. Withdrawing all troops will show an UPPERMOST sign of weakness. America, my beloved country, is not weak Mr. Future President. The surge tactics of General Patraeus have been working well lately. The surge is a straightforward strategy of ends, ways, and means. The end is political and economic progress, in which al-Qa'eda is defeated as the "brand" choice for Iraqis. The way progress is made is by reducing the violence in Baghdad. Mr. Future President, please let the soldiers, under the heroic and patriotic soul of General Patraeus, win the war!
Now, Mr. Future President, I love my country, and the United States of America should continue to have the traditional way of life for all citizens. We are the strongest country in the world, and we must not only win the war in Iraq, but we must also stay strong within ourselves. Same sex marriage should be banned in every city, county, state, and region in our country. We must continue the traditional lifestyle and live the right way. The federal government should take over complete control concerning this issue. The Defense of Marriage Act was passed in 1996 and was explicitly defined as a union of one man and one woman for the purposes of federal law. The only problem now is that the Defense of Marriage Act does not prevent the individual states from defining marriage as they fit. Currently Massachusetts, since 2004, and California, since May of 2008, recognize same sex marriage in their respective states. But how really respected are they? I believe in living life the way God created us to live. Genesis 2, Verse 7, God created Adam and Eve, Mr. Future President. Please set this country right on this issue.
To continue keeping our country on track, the tax issue is so vitally important in our economy today. I don't like hearing about all of these different changes for this class, that corporation, this business, and so on. I believe it is fairly simple: make permanent the tax cuts that President Bush made in 2001 and 2003. That means keeping income tax rates at 10 percent and keeping capital gains and dividend rates at 15 percent. End of discussion. I am not a fan of high taxes no matter what class a citizen is in. It all goes back to Laissez Faire, a term I absolutely love, that means little or no interference at all from the government on big businesses. Taxes should be the same on all Americans, all businesses, because... YES, we are all EQUAL, and we are all in this thing together. As citizens of the United States of America, we are ALL granted equality. That pertains to taxes, too.
I am a citizen of our great nation, the United States of America. Please, Mr. Future President hear me out. I trust you to pave our country's way to greatness in your term in the oval office. Helping the American people in every way possible should be your first priority as President. Win the War in Iraq, and show the strength of our country. Do not allow same sex marriage. Stabilize tax cuts for good, dealing with income, capital gains, and dividend rates. Most importantly, Mr. Future President, bring our country back to where it is supposed to be. Bring our country back to the Promised Land. Remember, America is the home of the brave. Be brave, Mr. Future President, and good luck.
Sincerely,
R
