Alcohol and Tobacco are Wacko!
Dear, Future President
I would like to bring to your attention; two dangerous substances that have caused such unfortunate problems in this world. The two substances are alcohol and tobacco. Personally, I believe both of these things are such abomations. They have caused a lot of pain and trouble through peoples lives. Alcohol is almost as addictive as cocaine and there needs to be more control put on its consumption. Tobacco is harmful, and alcohol can cause problems; it kills as well. Every day someone dies from both of these outrageous drugs. Their needs to be a higher power to show everyone; what alcohol and tobacco can really do.
Alcoholism is one of the leading causes of death; experts say from 10 to 20 million Americans suffer from alcohol related problems. They also say that teenagers drink periodically, and consume way over the legal limit. Alcohol should either be illegal or the drinking age should be raised . What do you think when you hear the word alcohol? Do you think of a car crash maybe, or possibly women who are pregnant and drink through their pregnancy, which causes the baby to be born with (FAS). What do think about that? I understand that it is freewill to do what you please but there is time for right and wrong. What happens when a person's drinking effects everyone around or they commit a crime?
Cigarettes have been known to cause lung cancer, heart disease and other diseases that are just now being discovered. Cigarette smoking is the number one leading cause of many deaths and diseases such as cancer. Heart disease is twice as high in smokers than non- smokers. Also, 30 percent of all deaths are from cancer in the U.S. and 20 percent of all U.S. cases are from heart disease. Cigarette smoking was, and still is, associated with about 85 percent of all cases of lung cancer. Passive smoking is just as bad as picking up a cigarette and smoking has created thousands of lung cancer and heart disease patients. Pregnant women who smoke are at risk as it causes low birth weight which is very unhealthly. I feel stongly tobacco shold be banned as it causes a lot of deaths, and the age should be raised and or illegal for people to get. There should be a nation wide smoking ban.
Alcohol and tobacco are very dangerous. I hope as future president that you take these issues under consideration and support them. I also hope you can increase your support for programs dealing with the prevention of teenage drinking. We as the next generation need to put a stop to this nonsense, and out of control drinking and tobacco usage. I believe with a little patience and some effort that this can be achieved.Thank you for your time, good luck to you in the White House.
