4 letters about "Schools" and "No Child Left Behind" issues
Now, more than ever, America requires a revamped education system. The No Child Left Behind Act is leaving students and schools in the dust, so the new president needs to fix this problem. The bill of legislature enforces rigid guidlines and punishes schools that cannot perform up to their potential. Through alternative choices and more flexible benchmarks, the new president can turn this problem around.
Because schools focus on test-taking skills, many high level students are affected by this. They are held back because of everyone else and it hurts them. Schools don’t offer enough challenging classes because many kids don’t qualify to take them. Only a minority of students actually want to take these classes. Just because there aren’t enough “qualified” teachers to teach them, these students should stay in classes full of kids with no determination of completing high school. Many kids don’t go to college and even more don’t complete high school.
The No Child Left Behind Act should be completely done away with. High school entrance exams should be introduced. Middle school should be grades 6 through 9, and high school should be grades 10 through 12.
