Debt. This is one of many things students come to realize when applying for college. You may not realize it now, but the day will come. Will you be ready?

As a student in a small town, nestled in the Midwest, life is relatively good. A good community, strong ethics and values, and a humbling sense that your education is top grade. "You get out of it, what you put into it," is the classic teacher to student speech regardless of where you are in the United States.

My piece is about how America needs to focus on our economy and the struggles already happening around the country with money. It also focuses on choices that our country gives, and the argument if these choices should be given. As a part of the younger generation, these are the issues that are important to me and this piece is to show that kids are worried about the same things that the older generations are.

In small Nebraska towns from the day most kids turn sixteen, they are now expected to get a job and work throughout the rest of high school if they expect to be able to attend a school after they graduate high school. Since they have to have a job, then they need a car in order to get to their job, because the state is closing down small town schools. Once the school in a town is closed, then the town begins to die.

We sit aside and watch our nation slowly slip into the digressing state of poverty and go below standards.

The price of school tuition is very expensive. And many parents cannot afford to sent their child or children to college. As the president of this country, you should allow more student grants to be given out to students and to also do your best on lowering college tuition.

Education is the basis to our future. We need to evaluate our educational system, raise teacher wages, and lower college tuition. Kids are graduating without the basic tools needed to succeed in life. How can we strengthen our school system to give our children a better future?
